Exams Roles and Responsibilities
Terms and Conditions
If accepting nomination as the convenor of an exam you must assume these responsibilities associated with the role:
- If you cannot fulfil the role of referee for the course you are convening you must nominate another staff member from within your school who has a sound knowledge of the material presented in the exam paper.
- If you are responsible for producing an exam paper for a particular course, you must ensure that the exam paper is set out according to the UNSW Exam Paper guidelines.
If accepting nomination as the referee of an exam you must assume these responsibilities associated with the role:
- You must be within contact for the entire duration of the exam, as well as at least 30 minutes before the exam commences in order to answer any queries that may arise from the paper. Therefore, the contact numbers you provide on the exam’s certificate must be the same numbers that you can be reached on during the exam.
- If you are responsible for producing an exam paper for a particular course, you must ensure that the paper is set out according to the UNSW Exam Paper guidelines guidelines.
- You must carefully proofread the paper and ensure any changes and corrections are made before the exam is held. If the exam is to be centrally timetabled and managed you must immediately notify the Examinations Section in writing of any changes or corrections to the paper.
- You are required to have the exam paper carefully proofread by a reviewer. The reviewer must be a staff member from within your academic unit who has a sound knowledge of the material presented in the exam paper so as to ensure the review is legitimate.
- If you wish to nominate another referee for a centrally timetabled and managed exam - and the exam certificate has already been submitted - you must notify the Examinations Section in writing.
If accepting nomination as the reviewer of an exam you must assume these responsibilities associated with the role:
- You are required to carefully proofread any exam papers presented to you for review and ensure that they adhere to the standards set out in the UNSW Exam Paper guidelines.
